Perhaps the best summer day ever.

Sluffy steep day with a crux. @cody_hughes91 and @el_fred are defenetly the guys to hang out with in a place like this. Coulouir Valparaiso was first skied (and named) by @andreasfransson99 and @morgansalen in 2012. No ice in the steepest part this year just a mix of snow and rocks. Also very little snow in the top section, where we passed out on the last meters to save time as a tiny snowfall started to send worrying amounts of loose snow down our way. #forholttinden #linesofkjosen #lyngen

Quite rare to see this big avalanche in the woods! Defenetly medium sized and perhaps some 5000-7000 m3. Cornice break, rockslide, wet grass, deph hoar, rise in temperature... still signs of much bigger avalanches in the past. Nice day out bringing the superior saw up to a 3 day old slab from a small hill below Rornestinden. Showing 4 finger snow gradually hardened to knifehard below the pen. Down at the 4th of March (I think) snowfall we find the weak/breaking layer of surface hoar. In our small pit below is the crust and faceted snow. It is hard to say if there was a collapse in the facets, but it defenetly was not the weak layer in this case. There has been more avalanches in the area in sheltered places for instance in the Bjørndalen bowl. If you have the chance to pass by some old crown the coming days it would be interesting to know what was the weak layer. For this or other useful info always, use regObs. On the good side we had no signs of danger today.
